Privacy policy
How we collect, use and protect the personal information you share with us.
Who we are
Steady Ground Therapy ("we", "us") provides counselling for people affected by gambling. We are the data controller for personal information collected through this website and through our services. You can contact us about privacy at hello@steadygroundtherapy.co.uk.
What we collect
When you contact us we collect the details you choose to give: typically your name, email address, phone number and anything you write in your message. If you become a client we also hold clinical notes, which are stored separately from website enquiries and subject to stricter controls.
This website itself collects only technical information needed to serve pages, such as your IP address in server logs, and optional analytics data if you accept those cookies.
Why we use it
We use enquiry details only to respond to you and to arrange sessions. We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for marketing unless you have explicitly asked us to keep in touch, and we never share it with employers, family members or third parties without your written consent, except where the law requires us to or someone is at serious risk of harm.
How long we keep it
Website enquiries that do not lead to sessions are deleted after six months. Client records are kept for seven years after the end of therapy, in line with professional body guidance, and then securely destroyed.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the information we hold about you
- ask us to correct anything that is inaccurate
- ask us to delete information, where we do not have a legal duty to keep it
- object to or restrict how we use your information
- complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you are unhappy with our response
To exercise any of these rights, email us. We respond within one month.
Security
Our website is served over HTTPS. Enquiries are stored on encrypted systems accessible only to the counselling team. Video sessions use an end-to-end encrypted platform.
